The Hesperia football team dropped a 22-14 heartbreaker in overtime against Morley-Stanwood on Friday night in CSAA Silver action. 

The Panthers led 14-6 at halftime.

Morley-Stanwood tied the game 14-14 with 6:58 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Hesperia tried to win the game with a field goal as regulation expired, but missed to force overtime.

Morley-Stanwood opened the extra session, scoring on its first possession on a fourth-and- goal, and converted on the two-point conversion to increase its advantage to 22-14.

The Panthers managed to march down to the six-yard line before failing to score on its possession, ending the game.

Hesperia has lost two of its three games in overtime this season.

Kanin Witte led the Hesperia offense with 111 yards on 25 carries, while Gerritt Yates had 85 yards on 19 carries.

The Panthers were paced defensively by Scott Peters with 14 tackles, while Witte added 11. Zach Young scored on a 35-yard fumble recovery.

Hesperia, which dropped to 0-3 on the season, will travel to Holton for a rivalry game next Friday night.
