Ludington couldn’t keep pace with Manistee in the second half Friday, falling 42-28 in Lakes 8 Conference football action.

The Orioles’ Garret Meeker found Trevor Latimer for a 32-yard touchdown and added a touchdown run from three yards out to end the first quarter tied, 14-14.

A 49-yard run to start the second quarter from Shemar Jennings put the Orioles up 21-14, but Manistee answered at the end of the quarter to make the score 21-21 heading into the half.

Manistee scored twice early in the third quarter to go up 35-21, before Meeker threw a four-yard strike to Jayden Hathaway to cut the lead to 35-28 at the end of the third.

Manistee was able to add another score in the fourth to put the game out of reach and drop the Orioles to 2-1 on the season and 0-1 in conference play.

Meeker completed 12 passes for 145 yards with two touchdowns and an interception to lead the Orioles while Jennings finished with six carries for 158 yards and a touchdown.

Latimer had two catches with 44 yards and a score while Anthony Tenney caught three passes for 36 yards.

Luke Fountain paced Ludington defensively with 13 tackles.
