The Grand Haven soccer team defeated Forest Hills Central 3-1 on Saturday in a non-league game between two highly-ranked teams.

Mason Mahacek scored first for Grand Haven, with an assist from Timmy Kleyla. The game was tied 1-1 at halftime.

Connor Lund made the difference for the Bucs with a pair of goals in the second half. Mahacek had an assist on Lund’s second goal.

Jake Thayer and Filiberto Juarez combined to gain the victory in goal for Grand Haven.

Fruitport shuts out Kenowa Hills in heat-shortened game

The Fruitport soccer team downed Kenowa Hills 4-0 on Saturday in O-K Black Conference action.

The game was called at halftime due to the heat.

Zack Shane scored two goals for the Trojans. Logan Fielding added one goal, while Jeremiah Bosse scored the first of his varsity career.

Cam Schultz had two assists for Fruitport while Shane had one. Goalkeepers Kaleb Krueger and Connor Hines combined for the shutout and Eli Covert cleared a ball to prevent a sure Kenowa Hills goal.

Fruitport is now 8-5 overall and 6-1 in conference play.

Reeths-Puffer and Jenison play to a 2-2 tie

The Reeths-Puffer soccer team played to a 2-2 tie with Jenison in O-K Black action on Saturday.

Parker Aerts scored both goals for the Rockets, with assists from David McHugh and Jacob Westerhof.

Reeths-Puffer outshot Jenison 18-4.

R-P is now 6-4-2 overall and 3-2-2 in the O-K Black.
