The Ludington soccer team captured a Division 3 district championship on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Shelby at Hart High School.

With eight minutes left in the first half, Ben Knoer of Ludington found the back of the net from 20 yards out to put the Orioles ahead 1-0.

In the second half, Lucien Chaase scored on a goal with 27 minutes left to give Ludington its final advantage.

Shelby finishes the season with a 12-10-1 record while Ludington advances to play in the Division 3 regional at Clare on Tuesday. The Orioles will face Boyne City at 8 p.m.
