The Muskegon Lumberjacks snapped their two-game losing streak on Saturday night in Youngstown, Ohio.
The Lumberjacks overcame a late game-tying goal by the Phantoms, defeating Youngstown 3-2 in a shootout at the Covelli Center.
Muskegon, which is now 2-3 on the season, outscored the Phantoms by a 2-1 margin during the shootout stanza.
The Lumberjacks will face Youngstown next weekend in a home-and-home series starting Friday on the road before heading back home on Saturday.
Michael Graham and Emilio Pettersen each tallied a goal for Muskegon in the shootout while Eriks Zohovs had Youngstown’s lone strike.
Both teams failed to score during the opening period.
The Lumberjacks opened the scoring at the 10:09 mark of the second period on a goal from Wyatt Bongiovanni. Matej Pekar was credited with the lone assist.
Muskegon increased its lead to 2-0 on a goal by Egor Afanasyev 13:21 into the second period. Bobby Kaiser and Blake Evennou each assisted on the goal.
The Phantoms responded at the 15:06 mark of the second period on a goal from Curtis Hall.
Youngstown tied the game 2-2 to force overtime at the 17:47 mark of the third stanza on a goal from Andrew Petrillo.
Both teams failed to score during the five-minute overtime frame, setting up the three-round shootout.
Adam Brizgala stopped 32 of 34 shots on goal in net for Muskegon, including two of three in the shootout.
