Mona Shores wins thrilling five-set match, advances to district semifinals

The Mona Shores volleyball team won a five-set thriller over Class A district host Northview on Monday evening in the quarterfinals.

The Sailors won via set scores of 25-22, 21-25, 25-20, 22-25, and 15-10.

Grace Hellman and Anya Herrala paced the Sailors with 15 kills each while Ryleigh Wehler added 14.

The Sailors were paced defensively by Sasha Poland with 36 digs and Suriya Van Der Oord with 17 digs along with 51 assists.

Mona Shores is now 21-21-4 on the season and will face Kenowa Hills in the district semifinals on Wednesday at Northview.
