The Muskegon girls basketball team turned in a great defensive performance on Tuesday in a 42-28 non-league victory over Grand Rapids Catholic.

The Big Reds allowed only 13 points through the first three quarters en route to their first victory of the season.

Makiya Sones led the way for Muskegon (1-1) with 11 points, five assists and three rebounds. Brianna Alexander and Daz’sha Day chipped in with eight and seven points, respectively.
