The Muskegon Lumberjacks bounced back from last night’s defeat with a 4-2 win over the Green Bay Gamblers on Saturday night in Wisconsin.

The Lumberjacks are now 7-11-2 on the season, good for 16 points and eighth place in the USHL’s Eastern Conference.

Muskegon will look to start its first win streak of the season next weekend at the L.C. Walker Arena against the defending champion Chicago Steel. Both Friday and Saturday’s game will start at 7:15 p.m.

The Gamblers opened the scoring at the 10:37 mark of the first period on a goal from Andy Carroll to give Green Bay a 1-0 advantage after the first buzzer.

Muskegon tied the game 1-1 on Anthony Del Gaizo’s 10th goal of the season 5:25 into the second period. Mikael Hakkarainen and Matej Pekar each assisted on the tally.

The Lumberjacks grabbed a 2-1 advantage 14:11 into the second stanza with Dante Sheriff’s first goal of the season. Vincent de Mey assisted on the goal.

Green Bay tied the game 2-2 with a goal by Matt Jennings at the 16:35 mark of the second frame.

Muskegon regained its lead at 3-2 at the 17:23 mark of the second with a goal by Colby Bukes. Sam Renlund notched the lone assist on the tally.

The Lumberjacks added an empty net goal from Hakkarainen with 1:10 remaining in regulation.

Muskegon outshot the Gamblers by a 36-29 margin and goalkeeper Keegan Karki stopped 27 of 29 Green Bay shots.
