The Muskegon girls basketball squad never relinquished the lead on Tuesday night, defeating Kenowa Hills 55-36 in an OK Black Conference game.

The Big Reds held Kenowa Hills to under 10 points in both the third and fourth quarters.

Deshonna Day led all scorers with 12 points while Dynasti Dowell chipped in with 11 points and four rebounds.

MONA SHORES 55, FRUITPORT 17 – The Sailors led 25-13 at the half, then exploded with a 30-4 run in the second half to cruise to a victory. Ryleigh Wehler had a career-high 22 points for the Sailors, while Nia Miskel recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. The Trojans were led by Isabelle Raven with nine points.

SPARTA 42, SPRING LAKE 41- Jenna Core’s 12-point and 18-rebound double-double wasn’t enough for the Lakers as they fell to the Spartans Tuesday night. Spring Lake, which trailed by nine points late in the fourth quarter, cut its deficit to one-point with five seconds left, but failed to nail a half-court shot as time expired. Madeline Zenas also added a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Lakers.

MUSKEGON CATHOLIC CENTRAL 49, PENTWATER 31- The Crusaders jumped out to an early 15-6 lead in the first quarter and didn’t look back as they rolled to a win over the Falcons on Tuesday night. Muskegon Catholic (6-2, 2-1) was paced by Talia Tyler with 14 points and six steals while Lauren Doriot chipped in with a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds. Taylor Wilkinson led the Falcons with nine points.

CENTRAL MONTCALM 49, FREMONT 32 – The Packers could not overcome a 21-8 deficit after the first quarter. Fremont (4-4, 1-3) trailed 35-18 at the half, but played even with undefeated Central Montcalm in the second half. Calla Miller and Natalie Jamieson led the Packers with eight points each.
