The Muskegon Community College women’s basketball team moved up to the top of the Western Conference of the Michigan Community College Athletic Association standings with a 68-63 win over Mid Michigan Community College on Wednesday night.

The Jayhawks are now 12-5 on the season and 5-1 in league play, and are tied with Mid Michigan, Lake Michigan and Ancilla for first-place in the conference.

Muskegon Community College led 15-9 after the first quarter, 31-23 at halftime and 45-42 heading into the final stanza.

Iyana Brown paced the Jayhawks with 21 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks, while Delaney Bolles added 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Elysia Mattos chipped in with 13 points for MCC.

The Jayhawks will host Lake Michigan Community College on Saturday with tipoff slated for 1 p.m.
