The Mason County Central boys basketball squad defeated Shelby in comeback fashion 45-44 in a West Michigan Conference game on Tuesday.

Jeffery Carrier nailed three free-throws for the Spartans with under five seconds left in regulation to seal the win for Mason County Central.

The game then ended with a steal from MCC’s Bruce Banks following the final pass inbounds.

Carrier scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to carry MCC while Ty Sniegowski and Tyler Bromley both added eight points for the Spartans.

Ryan Rabe totaled 15 points and seven rebounds for Shelby, while Kristian Oberlin added nine points.

The Spartans improved to 6-2 on the season and 4-2 in league play, while Shelby dropped to 1-8 on the year and 1-5 in conference competition.
