The Ludington boys basketball team survived a late comeback attempt by Manistee and escaped with a 44-41 victory on Friday in Lakes 8 Conference action.

Ludington (10-5, 7-1) led 22-10 at halftime and 34-17 midway through the third quarter, then Manistee cut the lead to 41-38 with just over a minute left.

But late free-throws from Brayden Porter and Sam Bandstra kept the game in the hands of the league-leading Orioles. Josh Laman scored 20 points to pace Ludington while Will Sadler added 11.
