A big third period propelled the Muskegon Lumberjacks to a 5-2 road victory over the Cedar Rapids Roughriders on Friday night.

After a scoreless first period, Jachym Kondelik scored twice in the second period to give the Jacks a 2-0 lead.

Cedar Rapids pulled within a goal early in the third period with a goal from Jason Polin, but Muskegon responded with three straight goals – two by Jagger Joshua and one from Bobby Kaiser – to take a commanding 5-1 lead.

Cedar Rapids got a late goal from Nathan Smith, but it wasn’t enough to make a difference.

Kaiser and Alexander Yakovenko each had two assists for the Lumberjacks. Colby Bukes, Nolan Sullivan, Anthony Del Gaizo and Emilio Pettersen each had one.

Muskegon goalie Keegan Karki stopped 21 of 23 shots to claim the victory.

The Lumberjacks, now 21-17-2, will travel to Des Moines to play the Buccaneers on Saturday night.
