The Muskegon Community College women’s basketball team pushed its winning streak to eight games on Saturday with a 76-62 win over visiting Ancilla College.

Delaney Bolles and Iyana Brown each scored 23 points to help the first-place Jayhawks avenge a Jan. 4 loss to the Chargers. Bolles also grabbed 10 rebounds and had a pair of blocked shots while Brown had six rebounds and two steals.

Bringing assistance to the MCC attack were Tierra Williams with nine points, six rebounds and two blocks, Elysia Mattos with eight points, 11 rebounds and nine assists, and Ashantai Hale-Sandifer with eight points and three rebounds.

The Jayhawks got off to a solid start, building a 32-26 lead by halftime.

The second half was more MCC as it attacked Ancilla’s zone defense and found success from the free throw line, hitting 12 of 14 attempts in the third quarter.

MCC remains tied for first place in the MCCAA Western Conference with Mid-Michigan. The Jayhawks travel to Grand Rapids Community College on Wednesday for another conference matchup.
