A great defensive effort, led by Anna Storm’s five steals, helped the Grand Haven girls basketball team to a 44-25 O-K Red Conference win over Hudsonville on Tuesday.

The game was tied 8-8 after one quarter, then the Bucs outscored the Eagles 15-2 in the second quarter to take a 13-point lead into the break.

Grand Haven cruised in the second half, outscoring the Eagles 21-15.

Allie Keyser led the Bucs (11-6, 5-4) with 13 points and seven assists while Sophie Mariani tallied a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

COOPERSVILLE 37, SPRING LAKE 34 – Spring Lake jumped out to a big 24-16 lead at the half, but the Broncos came alive in the third quarter to take a 30-29 lead at the third buzzer. The Laker offense couldn’t get going in the fourth quarter, allowing Coopersville to capture the win. Jenna Core led the Lakers (10-6) with 11 points while Phoebe Saunders added nine.

GRAND RAPIDS UNION 39, FRUITPORT 33 – Fruitport kept the game close most of the way, trailing 13-8 after one quarter, 25-15 at the half, and 32-26 heading into the fourth, but couldn’t muster enough offense to get past the Red Hawks. Sydney Bol led the Trojans with 14 points while Kennah VerMerris totaled six rebounds and three assists.
