Seven area wrestling teams captured district titles on Wednesday and Thursday and advanced to Wednesday’s regionals across the state.
Grand Haven topped Mona Shores 61-16 in Division 1 and will host regionals. the Bucs face Hudsonville in the semifinals while Rockford faces East Kentwood.
In Division 2, Reeths-Puffer topped Spring Lake 67-12. The Rockets host regionals and face Sparta in the semifinals. Grand Rapids Christian will be up against East Grand Rapids in the semifinals.
Whitehall snuck past Hart 36-29 and now travels to Iron Mountain for the Division 3 regional. The Vikings face Manistee in the semifinals and could face the winner of Gladstone and Iron Mountain.
In Division 3, Fremont beat Orchard View 60-19 and will also host regionals. The Packers face Kent City which won its district against Lakeview, 42-26. The winner between the Packers and Eagles will face the winner between Comstock Park and Grand Rapids Catholic Central.
In Division 4, Hesperia topped Mason County Eastern 60-24 while Ravenna beat Calvin Christian 54-18. The two winning teams will now meet each other in the regional semifinals at Hesperia and will face the winner between Carson City-Crystal and St. Louis.
