The Fremont boys basketball team advanced to the Class B district finals with a 55-46 victory over Sparta in the Class B semifinals at Tri-County High School on Wednesday.

The victory avenged the Packers’ 15-point loss to the Spartans in December.

Fremont’s defense played a key role, and helped the Packers overcome cold shooting, including a 1-for-15 performance from 3-point range.

Ben Schmidt led the Packers with 15 points, while Logan Karnemaat had a big night with 14 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks. Riley Krim added 10 points for the winners, Calvin Miller had seven points and seven rebounds, and Wyatt Kaastra contributed five points, five rebounds and five assists.

Fremont advances to Friday’s district championship game at 7 p.m. at Tri-County.
