The Spring Lake boys basketball team opened the Class B districts in impressive fashion on Monday, racing to an easy 60-17 victory over Orchard View.

The Lakers limited the Cardinals to two points in the first half, and had a commanding 26-2 lead by halftime.

Sam Negan scored a career-high 15 points to lead Spring Lake. Ben Arteaga finished with nine points, all on 3-pointers in the first quarter. Griffin Lorimer added eight points and Jack VanWingen snagged nine rebounds for the Lakers.

Ke’onte Barnes led Orchard View with eight points and five rebounds.

The Lakers, who are hosting the district tournament, now advance to Wednesday’s semifinals against Montague at 7:30 p.m.
