Orchard View and Western Michigan Christian squared off in a Lakes 8 baseball battle on Friday night at Marsh Field and walked away with a doubleheader split.

The Cardinals took Game 1 by a 7-2 margin while WMC captured the nightcap 16-6.

Brett Shawl was the winning pitcher for OV in the opener. Brady Bowen had two hits and two RBIs while Alex Andrews added two hits in the win.

WMC was led by Jamo Goorman with two hits.

In Game 2, Goorman posted three hits for the Warriors in the five-inning game. Brant Zeerip, Jake Moser, Michael Kamps and Andrew Hill added two hits apiece.

Zeerip posted the win on the mound for WMC (8-2).

Shawl hammered two triples to lead OV (4-5).

CSAA

HOLTON 6, LAKEVIEW 5 – Brent McLaughlin led the Red Devils with four hits, including two doubles, and five RBIs. Dalton Giddings also had four hits, including four doubles, and four RBIs.

Kaleb Kitchka, Nathan Slowik and Aiden Poling also had four hits for Holton. Giddings got the win on the mound, scattering five hits while striking out nine and only walking one.

Game 2 was tied 8-8 when it was suspended due to darkness.

Holton is now 7-4 overall and 5-0 in conference play.

NON-LEAGUE

OAKRIDGE 10, SPARTA 0 – The Eagles took control of the non-league game by scoring nine runs in the second inning. The big blow was a bases-clearing double by TJ Ruel in the second.

Oakridge had 10 singles in the contest. Pitcher Koleman Wall got the win, striking out nine, walking two and allowing only two hits.
