The Muskegon Community College baseball team split a doubleheader against Grand Rapids Community College on Thursday.

The Jayhawks dropped the opener 13-6, then bounced back with a 2-0 shutout win in the nightcap.

Joe Huesing suffered the loss in Game 1, allowing five runs on three hits in three innings, while striking out eight batters.

In Game 1, Tyus Beach, Jared Wierengo, Mitchell Wilson and Brady Keur lead the Jayhawk offense with two hits apiece.

Jonas Smith pitched the victory in Game 2, allowing just two hits in seven innings while striking out 10.

Wilson paced MCC with two hits.

The Jayhawks are now 20-15 on the season overall and 12-8 in conference play.
