The Muskegon Community College softball team is licking its wounds after a pair of tough double headers over the weekend. 

The Jayahwaks dropped both games to Lake Michigan College on Saturday and split their double header against Lansing Community College on Sunday.

Alessa Slade led MCC on Saturday with three hits as the Jayhawks lost the opener 2-1. Pitcher Mikala MacGeorge allowed only five hits in the complete game loss.

MCC fell 10-2 in Game 2 as Slade and Hannah Smith led the Jayhawks at the plate with two hits apiece.

On Sunday, MCC fell 11-2 in Game 1 but captured an 8-6 victory in Game 2 over Lansing.

The Jayhawks were plagued by six Lansing runs in the fifth inning. The Stars scored their runs on three MCC errors with two outs.

Alessa Buchner and Brooklyn Samlow each belted solo home runs in the opener to lead MCC.

The bats finally came alive for the Jayhawks in Game 2 as Hannah Smith, Bree Weck, Mackenzie Quinn, Chase Jancek and MacGeorge compiled two hits apiece in the win.

Pitcher Kirstin Sweet picked up the win for the Jayhawks who are now 10-21 overall and 5-13 in the Western Conference.
