Muskegon Community College eked out a pair of one-run wins over Grand Rapids Community College in Western Conference softball action on Wednesday. 

The Jayhawks won the opener 3-2 and took the nightcap 6-5.

Brandi Rice’s pinch-hit RBI single in the fifth inning lifted MCC in Game 1. Bree Weck tied the game in the fifth with an RBI double.

Pitcher Mikala MacGeorge gave up four hits in the complete-game win for MCC.

The Jayhawks trailed 5-1 in Game 2 and managed to comeback with multi-hit performances from Hannah Smith, Alessa Buchner, Rice and Weck.

Kristen Sweet pitched four shutout innings in relief to grab the win for MCC (12-21, 7-13).
