Strong pitching and hot bats led the Muskegon Community College men’s baseball team to a pair of Western Conference wins over visiting Ancilla College on Saturday. The Jayhawks won 8-1 in the opener and 10-1 in Game 2. 

Jon Henry and Jeremy Karthan both pitched complete games for MCC (17-14, 9-7). Henry struck out an astounding 15 batters in Game 1 and allowed four hits and one run. Karthan struck out six and gave up six hits and no walks in the nightcap win.

MCC collected 12 hits in Game 1 and was led by Mitchell Wilson, Brady Keur and Jonas Smith with two hits each.

The Jayhawks put up nine hits in Game 2 as Tyson Seymour, Jared Wierengo and Jake Soules posted two hits apiece.

MCC now holds fourth place in the Western Conference race behind first place Kellogg (30-4, 16-0) and travels to Ancilla for another double header on Tuesday.
