The Hesperia softball team kept rolling with a doubleheader sweep over Morley-Stanwood on Thursday in CSAA conference action.

The Panthers won 8-6 and 14-4.

Ellie Palmer toed the hill in Game 1, throwing a complete game while allowing three earned runs and striking out five batters. Claire Rumsey led the Panthers at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

In Game 2, Shelby Follert got the win on the mound, allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out three. Makenna Swisher paced the Panther hitters, racking up two doubles and knocking in two runners.

The win puts the Panthers at 8-0 on the season and 4-0 in the conference.

O-K RED

GRAND HAVEN 6, ROCKFORD 1 Behind Madison Shumaker’s complete game, the Bucs were able to knock off the Rams. Shumaker allowed just four hits, walked one and allowed one earned run. Shumaker also led the Bucs at the plate, going 3-for 4 and driving in three runners. Baby Hang had two RBIs for Grand Haven.

O-K BLUE

SPRING LAKE 4, SPARTA 0 – The Lakers came out on top in a pitchers dual. Leah Vaughan toed the rubber for the Lakers and did not disappoint, striking out 13 Spartan batters and allowing just three hits.

Madelyn Nelson led the Lakers at the plate with three hits while Linsey Paggeot drove in two runs. The win pushes the Lakers to 8-0 overall and 6-0 in the OK Blue conference.

NON-LEAGUE

HOLTON 15-7, RAVENNA 3-5 –  Brytnee Epplett and Kylie Gould each pitched for the Red Devils in the Game 1 victory. Madison Swenson led Holton at the plate with four RBIs.

Game 2 went extra innings, but the Red Devils were able to pull it out, behind strong relief pitching from Madi Baker in the eighth. Kennedy Greene paced the Holton offense with two hits.

Holton improves to 8-0 with the victories.

OAKRIDGE 14-11, KENT CITY 5-1 – In Game 1, Oakridge pitcher Brie Pastor tossed seven innings, allowing seven hits and striking out six. Kayla Fessenden led the Eagles at the plate with three hits, including a double and a home run.

Fessenden also pitched in Game 2 and didn’t disappoint, allowing just one run on five hits and striking out five. She also led the Eagles hitters with a home run and two RBIs.

Oakridge improved to 11-3 on the year.

MONA SHORES 11-16, WYOMING 5-0 – Emma Lynn grabbed the win for the Sailors in Game 1, striking out eight batters. Veronica Kastelic led Mona Shores at the plate, tallying two hits and driving in three.

Lauryn Patterson threw a shutout in Game 2, striking out three, while Kastelic again had the hot bat, going 4-for-4 with four RBIs.

The Sailors improved to 8-7 on the year.

WHITEHALL 19-17, LUDINGTON 3-2 – Whitehall’s Ella Lyvere picked up the Game 1 win on the mound while , Katelyn Goodrich hit a grand slam.

In Game 2, Alison Shaffer pitched the victory while Lyvere paced the Viking hitters with a two-run double.

Goodrich ended up with 11 RBIs on the night.

MONTAGUE 9-13, TRI-COUNTY 5-3 – Madison Carroll was the winning pitcher in Game 1, striking out 13 and allowing just four hits and one walk. Freshman Bailey Belinger had a triple and a single and two RBIs while Kat Moreau had two hits and two RBIs.

In the nightcap, Montague’s Alexis March struck out six, walked one and scattered seven hits in the five-inning contest. Bailey Belinger had her second triple of the night, along with a single and two RBIs. Carroll added two doubles for the Wildcats.
