The Reeths-Puffer baseball team downed Mona Shores 8-4 on Tuesday in a Division 1 pre-district tournament game.

That means the Rockets will advance to play Holland West Ottawa at noon on Saturday in the district semifinals, while the Sailors will be done for the season.

Mona Shores took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Andrew Moss.

Reeths-Puffer pulled ahead for good in the fourth with a two-run double by Jason Ledford. The Rockets added three more in the fifth inning, with big hits by Arlie TenHove and Carson Aerts.

Carson Aerts finished with three hits for R-P, which totaled 11 in the game.

Cole Aerts started on the mound and got the win, scattering four hits while striking out four in 5 2/3 innings.

FRUITPORT 7, ALLENDALE 4 – The Fruitport baseball team avenged a tough loss to Allendale in districts last year.

Parker Tawney was the winning pitcher for Fruitport, tossing four innings of relief while giving up only one hit. Nick Kleinheksel had two hits for the Trojans and Luke Hronek drew three walks. The Trojans stole 10 bases in the game.

Fruitport will play Coopersville at 10 a.m. on Saturday in a Division 2 district semifinal game at Spring Lake High School.

ORCHARD VIEW 13, GRANT 0 – Chase Keller threw a no-hitter in the five-inning Division 2 pre-district contest.

Brett Shawl had four hits, including a solo homer, and four RBIs for the Cardinals. Alex Andrews added three hits while Keller had two hits and knocked in two runs.

Orchard View will host Tri-County on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the district semifinals.
