The Fruitport girls tennis team won a Division 3 regional championship last weekend at Ferris State University.

The Trojans finished with 21 team points, which allowed them to squeak past second-place Cadillac, which had 20 points, and third-place Whitehall, which had 19.

All three teams now advance to the Division 3 state finals in Holland on June 1-2.

Winning regional flight championships for the Trojans were Haleigh Winskas in No. 2 singles and Olivia Parling in No. 3 singles.

Runners-up for Fruitport were Trinity Busscher in No. 1 singles, Hannah Kelley in No. 4 singles, and the team of Rachael Weiland and Hannah LaBash in No. 2 doubles.

Whitehall’s No. 4 doubles team of Morgan DeRose and Lily Groessl won their flight championship, while the Vikings’ No. 3 doubles team of Maddi Boyd and Braley Johnson finished second.

North Muskegon finished in third place at the Divison 4 regional tournament at Grand Rapids South Christian High School.

Flight champions for the Norse were Claire McCall in No. 2 singles, Lindsay Bliss in No. 3 singles, and the team of Belles Harman and Lily Montgomery in No. 1 doubles.

North Muskegon will take part in the Division 4 state finals at Novi High School on June 1-2.
