The West Michigan Whitecaps used a three run seventh inning on Tuesday to defeat Fort Wayne 4-1.

With the game tied 1-1 in the seventh, Garrett McCain singled home Dylan Rosa and Colby Bortles to give the Whitecaps a 3-1 lead. Later in the inning, Alexis Garcia brought home McCain to make the score 4-1 in favor of the Whitecaps.

McCain finished the game with two hits and three RBIs to lead the West Michigan offense while Garcia also had two hits and an RBI of his own.

Wladimir Pinto picked up his first win of the season, striking out five batter in 2 and 2/3 innings of relief work. Clate Schmidt picked up his second save of the season, allowing one hit in one inning of work.

The Whitecaps are now 20-17 on the year and in third place of the Midwest League Eastern Division, 4 and ½ games behind Lansing for first.

The Whitecaps will continue their series at Fort Wayne at 11:05 a.m. on Wednesday.
