The Orchard View softball team earned a doubleheader sweep against WMCC in Lakes 8 action on Friday.

The Cardinals won the opener in shutout fashion by a 15-0 margin, then won the nightcap 8-5.

In Game 1, Allie Tenhove struck out nine and earned the win for the Cardinals. Halee Holman led OV offensively with two hits and three RBIs.

Morgan Taylor, Cassidee White, and Matisen Gaunt each added two hits. Hannah Pell and Maria Sanocki each had a hit for WMCC.

In the nightcap, Halee Holman earned the win on the mound, striking out five. Cassidee White had two hits for OV while Morgan Taylor and Halee Holman each added one hit and had two RBIs.

WMCC is now 1-8 in Lakes 8 play and 7-15 overall.

MONA SHORES 13-8, WHITEHALL 4-3 – Lauryn Patterson picked up the win in the opener for the Sailors, striking out five batters. Veronica Kastelic led Mona Shores, hitting for the cycle, which included a grand slam homer in Game 1.

Taylor Dew added four hits, including a home run, while Maddie Mettler had three hits, including a home run.

In Game 2, Maddison Van Etten earned the win on the mound, striking out nine. Maddie Mettler picked up her second home run of the night.

Katelyn Goodrich had five hits on the night for the Vikings while Kate Martin collected a home run.

Mona Shores improved to 22-11 overall and 9-1 in conference play while the Vikings fell to 18-10 overall.

MONTAGUE 12-18, SHELBY 4-8 – Madison Carroll picked up the win on the mound for the Wildcats, striking out 12. Bailey Belinger led the offense with two hits, including a home run and three RBIs. Leah Webber and Maddy Britton each added two hits and two RBIs for the Wildcats.

In the nightcap, Alexis Marsh struck out four and picked up the win for Montague.

Belinger led the Wildcats with a home run, double and three RBIs, while Morgan Roesler and Kat Moreau each collected two hits and two RBIs.

The Wildcats improved to 8-2 in the conference and 13-9 overall.
