The Spring Lake softball team remained unbeaten with a pair of wins over Whitehall on Wednesday. The Lakers won 9-0 and 9-1 and are now 32-0 on the year. The second win marked the 600th career win for coach Bill Core.

Leah Vaughan dominated the opener with nine strikeouts and allowed just one hit. Molly Poole, Alicia Mumby and Lauren Somers had two hits each.

Somers pitched the nightcap and allowed just two hits. Vaughan and Madelyn Nelson each had three hits. Lauren Hellman and Linsey Paggeot each smacked two hits.

Katelyn Goodrich had a hit for Whitehall.

NON-LEAGUE

RAVENNA 12-11, GRANT 7-8 – The Bulldogs swept an offense-heavy doubleheader on Wednesday. Makayla Hogan picked up the win in relief in the opener and pitched a complete game in the nightcap. Laney Mabrito and Maddie Peterson each had three hits in the opener, while Grace Mayeaux added two. Peterson smacked three more hits in Game 2. Karly Hanson had two knocks.

HART 13-12, PENTWATER 0-0 – The Pirates dominated both ends of a doubleheader against the Falcons Wednesday. Nicole Rockwell won the opener with seven strikeouts and just one hit allowed. Haley Westerbeek led with three hits. Sam Witteveen and Caityn Farmer each had two hits. Rockwell pitched the nightcap as well, notching eight punch outs. Allison Tiles had two hits including a homer. Witteveen added two hits. Taylor Ruggles had a hit in each game for Pentwater.

BYRON CENTER 4-18, MONA SHORES 2-8 – The Sailors dropped both ends of a doubleheader on Wednesday. Maddison Van Etten was a tough-luck loser in the opener with eight strikeouts. Veronica Kastelic had four hits including a pair of long balls. Maddie Mettler had three hits with a home run. Taylor Dew had three hits while Ryleigh Wehler had two.
