The Oakridge softball squad won a pair of games against Montague on Tuesday in a West Michigan Conference twin bill sweep.

The Eagles won the opener by a 10-1 margin, then cruised to a 10-4 victory during the nightcap.

Oakridge is now 21-3 on the season and a perfect 10-0 in league play.

Kayla Fessenden stared in the opener, striking out 18 batters over seven innings to pick up the win. Fessenden also smacked a three-run homer and totaled five RBIs. Sophia Wiard went 4-for-4 with a triple in the opener.

Brie Pastor claimed the win in Game 2 with six strikeouts over seven innings. Wiard had three hits, including a home run, and two RBIs.

Montague’s Madison Carroll had a homer and three RBIs in the second game.

SHELBY 11-20, HART 6-12 – The bats were rolling on both sides as Shelby swept a softball doubleheader over Hart on Tuesday.

The Tigers scored eight runs in the first to set the tone in Game 1. Kasey Morse led the way with three hits while McKenna Peters and Tori Mussell each had two.

Sam Witteveen led Hart with three hits, while Cassidy Copenhaver had two.

Shelby took a 13-0 lead early in Game 2 before Hart stormed back. The Pirates closed the gap to 13-11 before Shelby pulled away for the win.

Mussell and Dana Payne each had three hits for the Tigers. Kayla Eilers and Julia Church both had two.

Copenhaver, Witteveen, Rylee Noggle and Caitlyn Farmer all had three hits for Hart.

 

WHITEHALL 6-14, RAVENNA 1-2 – In Game 1, Alison Shafer picked up the victory on the mound, while Bailee Spicklemire added a two run-single at the plate. In Game 2, Ella Lyvere pitched the win.

Katelyn Goodrich led the Vikings batters with three hits while Abby Seger added two RBIs. The Vikings improved to 13-8 on the season and 8-2 in conference play.
