The West Michigan Whitecaps won their third straight game on Sunday, defeating South Bend 3-0.

Luke Sherley singled home Jordan Perace and Anthony Pereira in the fifth inning, giving the Whitecaps a 2-0 lead.

In the seventh inning, Sherley singled home Joey Morgan, giving the Whitecaps a 3-0 lead that finished the scoring for the day.

Sherley led the Whitecaps with two hits an three RBIs on the day while Garrett McCain, Brock Deatherage, Pearce, Morgan and Pereira all had one hit.

Starting pitcher Tom de Blok picked up the win, shutting the Cubs out over six inning while striking out six and surrendering three hits.

The Whitecaps are now 52-52 overall and 16-19 in the second half, four and a half games behind Bowling Green for first place in the Midwest League Eastern Division second half standings.

The Whitecaps and Cubs will continue their series on Monday with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
