The West Michigan Whitecaps ended their road trip with a 7-4 loss at Quad Cities on Monday afternoon.

The Whitecaps took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Brock Deatherage singled home Brady Policelli. Kody Clemens later scored in the inning to give West Michigan a 2-0 lead when Reynaldo Rivera grounded into a double play.

In the third inning, the Whitecaps extended their lead to 3-0 when Deatherage brought home Clemens on a sacrifice fly out.

However, Quad Cities responded by scoring seven unanswered runs, including six in the third before adding a run in the fourth.

Policelli hit a solo home run in the fifth inning for the final run of the game.

Clemens, Deatherage and Policelli all had two hits on the day to lead the Whitecaps while Deatherage led the team with two RBIs.

The Whitecaps will return home on Wednesday when they start a three game series with Lake County at 7:05 p.m.

The Whitecaps are now 49-51 overall on the year and 13-17 in the second half, five and a half games behind Bowling Green for first place in the Midwest League Eastern Division second half standings.
