The West Michigan Whitecaps offense broke out on Tuesday in an 8-4 home victory over the Lansing Lugnuts.

The majority of the Whitecaps offensive damage came in the seventh inning where the Whitecaps entered the inning, trailing 4-3

The seventh inning scoring for West Michigan started when Dylan Rosa and Joey Morgan scored on a Garrett McCain triple. McCain then came into score on a Reynaldo Rivera single making the score 6-4. Jordan Pearce then singled home Brock Deatherage, making the score 7-4 before Kody Clemens singled home Rivera to give the Whitecaps an 8-4 lead.

McCain, Rosa and Morgan all finished with two hits for the Whitecaps on the night while starting pitcher Dane Myers picked up a no-decision, allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out six in 5 and 1/3 innings.

The Whitecaps are now 42-41 overall on the year and 6-7 on the second half, trailing first place Lansing by four games in the Midwest League Eastern Division.

The Lugnuts and Whitecaps will continue their series in Lansing on Wednesday with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
