The Holton football team opened 2018 on the right foot with a 26-18 victory over Hart in non-conference action on Friday.

The game was scoreless after one quarter, then the Red Devils scored 20 points in the second quarter and seemed to be in control at halftime.

Hart fought back, outscoring Holton 18-6 in the second half, but Holton held on for the win.

Aaron Herron paced the Red Devil attack with 118 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries. Quarterback Drew Trygstad completed 5 of 8 passes for 150 yards with one TD while Austin Hawkins caught four passes for 140 yards and a touchdown.

Kaleb Kitchka and Draven Wyant each had 11 tackles for Holton while Derek Pouch added eight, Hawkins had five, and Nathan Slowik snagged two interceptions.

Holton will visit Evart next week.
