Muskegon Heights opened the football season on a rough note, falling 42-14 to Grand Rapids Catholic in a non-conference road game on Friday.

The Tigers gave up 21 points in the first quarter and trailed 35-0 at halftime.

Muskegon Heights had a pair of touchdowns in the second half, but it wasn’t nearly enough.

Terrance Williams had 25 yards on six carries for the Tigers. Receiver Jaromeo Blackshire had four receptions for 37 yards. Williams and Blackshire led the defense with eight tackles apiece.

Muskegon Heights plays Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian at Hope College next week.
