The West Michigan Whitecaps started a three game home series with Dayton on Saturday with a 4-1 win.

Joey Morgan scored on a balk in the first inning to give the Whitecaps a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the second, Colby Bortles extended the Whitecaps lead to 2-0 when he doubled home Dylan Rosa.

The final offense for the Whitecaps came in third inning when Brock Deatherage hit a two run home run scoring Kody Clemens.

The Whitecaps are now 57-54 overall and 21-20 in the second half, four and a half games behind first place Bowling Green in the Midwest League Eastern Division second half standings.

The two teams will continue their series on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 2:05 p.m.
