The West Michigan Whitecaps worked themselves back into a tie for the second half playoff wild card with Fort Wayne with a 4-2 victory over Dayton on Thursday.

Fort Wayne lost to Lake County on Thursday and now have the same 31-34 second half record as the Whitecaps.

After falling behind 1-0, the Whitecasps tied the game up in the second inning when Reece Hampton doubled home Reynaldo Rivera. Hampton then came around to score later in the inning when Eric De La Rosa singled him home, making the score 2-1.

With the score 2-2 in the sixth inning, Jordan Pearce hit a two run home run to give the Whitecaps a 4-2 lead that ultimately was the final score.

Joey Morgan and Wenceel Perez each had two hits to lead the Whitecaps on Thursday while reliever Dylan Stock picked up his first win of the season.

The Whitecaps will close out their series at Dayton on Friday at 7 p.m. before returning home for a pivotal season finale three game series against Fort Wayne.
