The West Michigan Whitecaps lost their second straight game in Bowling Green, falling 3-1 on Thursday night.

Facing a 2-0 deficit, Brady Policelli homered to left field in the eighth inning to score the lone Whitecaps run on the night.

Bowling Green later added a run of their own in the home half of the eighth inning, making the score 3-1.

Garrett McCain led the Whitecaps with two hits on the night while starting pitcher Jesus Rodriquez took the loss, allowing one earned run on four hits, while striking out six in seven innings.

The Whitecaps fall to 58-57 overall on the year and 22-23 in the second half, five and a half games behind Bowling Green for first place in the Midwest League Eastern Division standings.

Bowling Green and the Whitecaps will complete their three game series on Friday, with first pitch scheduled for 7:35 p.m.
