The Hesperia volleyball team won the Montabella Tournament on Saturday, defeating the top-seeded Central Montcalm squad in the final.

The Panthers won in straight sets, 28-26 and 25-22, in tightly contested final match. The victory gave the Panthers a 5-0 record on the day, bringing their overall record to 16-4..

In the semi-finals, Hesperia swept Meridian with scores of 25-12 and 25-23.

Hesperia was led by Emily Bayle’s big day with 31 kills and 36 digs during the tournament.

Alyssa Miller had a team-leading 37 digs to go with 23 kills. Isabelle Rumsey and Rachel Romero had 15 and 13 kills, repectively. Kyra Sayer led with 45 assists while Allison Homfield and Cara Frees each had a team-high five aces.

Hesperia is now 16-4 overall this season and faces off against Kent City on Wednesday evening at home.
