The Western Michigan Christian boys soccer team cruises past Manistee 8-0 in their Lakes 8 season opener on Thursday.

The Warriors jumped out to a 5-0 lead at halftime.

Charlie Alfree paced WMC with three goals while Brandon Fles and Hayden Hubers added two goals each.

Michael Masumpa scored the final goal for the Warriors to force the mercy rule. Isaac VanHoven chipped in with two assists.

The Warriors are now 4-0-2 on the season and 1-0 in league play.

GR UNION 5, REETHS-PUFFER 1 – The Rockets allowed four unanswered second half goals after being tied 1-1 at halftime.

Jaxon Carpenter notched the lone goal for the Rockets off a pass from Ashton Carpenter.

Reeths-Puffer’s goalkeeper DaMario Chapman stopped 10 shots.

The Rockets are now 1-4-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

LUDINGTON 8, MUSKEGON CATHOLIC CENTRAL 0- The Oriole offensive attack was led by Will Flewelling and Noah Peterson, who each scored two goals apiece.

Nick Patterson, Isaiah Lynn, and Evan Shay each netted one goal on the win.

Flewelling led Ludington with three assists while Brayden Porter, Isaiah Lynn, and Sam Bandstra each added one.

The Orioles are now 8-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

SPRING LAKE 0, WEST CATHOLIC 0 – The Lakers were met with pretty solid defense Thursday night, forcing their second tie of the season.

Strong defensive efforts from Porter Saunders, Gavin DeVowe, and Armani Albiertas helped Spring Lake’s goalkeeper Aiden Parker earn his second shutout of the season.

Spring Lake is now 1-2-4 on the season.

ORCHARD VIEW 4, WHITEHALL 2- Roger McKenzie’s second half hat trick propelled the Cardinals to a non-league win.

Devanté Glover also netted a goal for OV in the first half. The Cardinals led 1-0 at halftime.

Brady Bowen and Logan Woods each notched an assist for the Cardinals while goalkeeper Landon Tyler stopped six shots in net.
