North Muskegon jumped out early on Shelby and rolled to a 49-0 West Michigan Conference victory at home Friday.
The Norse scored 28 points in the opening quarter, starting with Chandler Edwards’35-yard touchdown run.
John Hayhurst’s 24-yard TD pass to Jesse Cooke increased the lead to 13-0, then TJ McKenzie added two scores.
The first, a 66 yard punt return, and the second, a 71-yard pass from Hayhurst.
The Norse led 35-0 at halftime after Hayhurst scrambled for a 22-yard touchdown.
Hayhurst hit Cooke for a 35-yard TD pass in the third quarter, and Cooke added a 92 yard run in the fourth.
North Muskegon finished with 438 yards, led by Hayhurst with 244 yards passing on 8-of-15 attempts.
Cooke finished with 99 yards receiving and 92 rushing, while Edwards added 68 yards receiving.
Shelby finished with 102 yards.
North Muskegon improves to 3-3 overall on the season and 2-3 in conference play while Shelby falls to 0-6 overall and 0-5 in conference play.
