Spring Lake QB Caleb Montgomery leads way in shutout victory over Sparta

The Spring Lake football team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 16-o victory over visiting Sparta in O-K Blue Conference action on Friday.

The Lakers only led 6-0 at halftime, then added 10 in the fourth to seal the victory.

Quarterback Caleb Montgomery had another big game for Spring Lake, rushing for 176 yards on 25 attempts and two touchdowns, and completing 6 of 9 passes for 107 yards.

Emmanuel Wilson led the Laker’s receivers, catching three passes for 51 yards.

Matt Beirman made a field goal to round out scoring for Spring Lake. Wyatt Lisman led the defense with seven tackles while Gavin Alban and Noah Vanderlinde added five apiece.

The Lakers host Coopersville next week.
