The Spring Lake volleyball team went the distance on Thursday night in a five-set victory over Grand Rapids Catholic Central in O-K Blue Conference play.

The Lakes won by service scores of 25-19, 25-22, 23-25, 19-25 and 15-11 to capture the win.

Jenna Core paced Spring Lake with 15 kills, 18 digs and 10 blocks while Madeline Zenas chipped in with 47 assists, four blocks, 10 kills and 17 digs.

The Lakers also received a strong performance by Abbi Perkins with 11 kills and 12 blocks. Megan VanderHeide and Julie Clover played strong defensively with 14 digs apiece.

Spring Lake is now 19-4-1 on the season and 4-1 in league play.

MUSKEGON CATHOLIC 3, MUSKEGON HTS 0 – The Crusaders won the Lakes 8 match by service scores of 25-5, 25-3 and 25-3.

MCC was paced by Jailyn Johnson with 15 aces and six assists while Payton Helton added five digs.

OAKRIDGE 3, NEWAYGO 0 – The Eagles won by scores of 25-9, 25-18 and 25-20 in a non-league match.

Halle Jennings paced Oakridge with nine kills, while Madison Bisson added five digs and Hayden Ruel chipped in with 16 assists.

HUDSONVILLE 3, GRAND HAVEN 1 – The Bucs fell short in a four-set match by scores of 23-25, 25-22, 24-26 and 19-25 on Thursday.

Ashley Slater led the Bucs with 14 kills along with 10 digs while Sarah Knoll added 12.

Grand Haven was paced defensively by Ashlyn Hall with 12 digs along with 39 assists.

The Bucs are now 23-8 overall on the season.
