The West Michigan Christian volleyball team took down Covenant Christian in four sets Friday night, 25-23, 18-25, 25-18 and 25-19.

Alisha Leffring led the Warriors with 37 assists and three blocks while Claudia Kingma had 10 kills.

Meghan Heiss added 14 digs for Western Michigan Christian while Anna Sytsema had one ace and 18 digs.

The Warriors improved to 19-7-1 overall.

FRUITPORT STRUGGLES AT ROCKFORD TOURNAMENT – The Fruitport volleyball team went 1-3 on Saturday in a tournament at Rockford, losing to Lakewood, Rockford and Grand Rapids Christian but defeating Forest Hills Central.

Kylie Oberlin paced the Trojans with 25 kills and 24 digs while Jordyn Carlyle had 24 kills, five assists and three blocks.

Kailey Carmean and Trinity Busscher each had 22 digs for Fruitport who drops to 19-9 overall on the year.

LUDINGTON TAKES THIRD AT MCC – The Ludington volleyball team took third place on Saturday in the Muskegon Catholic Central Invite.

The Orioles lost to Orchard View once and Kalamazoo Christian twice, but defeated Holton and Orchard View.

Zoee Zatarga and Tori Clancy each had 16 kills to pace Ludington while Laura Gibson added 21 digs.

Abby Millspaugh had 13 kills and 12 digs for Ludingotn.

The Orioles are now 14-14-4 on the season overall.

ORCHARD VIEW HAS UP AND DOWN DAY AT MCC – The Orchard View volleyball team went 2-3 on Saturday ta the Muskegon Cahtolic Invitational, deating Ludingotn and Fruitport Calvary, but falling to Kalamazoo Christian, Muskegon Catholic and Ludington.

Lily Johnson led the Cardinals with 20 kills while Allie TenHove had 17 and Tara McGrath had 14.

Cassidee White had 62 assists for Orchard View while TenHove led in aces with 10.

Orhcard View is now 6-17-2 overall.

LAKERS TAKE HOME KELLOGGSVILLE TITLE – The Spring Lake volleyball team went undefeated on Saturday, taking home the Kelloggsville Invitational championship.

Overall, the Lakers defeated Godwin Heights, Martin, Saugatuck and Allegan twice.

Jenna Core led the Lakers with 47 kills while Abbi Perkins added 21 and Taylor Colquitt 13. Madeline Zenas totaled 103 assists on the day while Julia Clover had 26 digs.

Spring Lake is now 24-4-1 overall on the season.

HART GOES 2-3-1 AT ONEKAMA – The Hart volleyball team went 2-3-1 on Saturday, taking third place in the Onekama Invitational.

Hart defeated Buckley twice while tying Marion and losing to Mason County Central, Onekama and Mason County Central again.

Autumn Sharrow paced the Pirates with 26 kills, 14 aces and six blocks while Morgan Rought added 39 assists and 18 digs.

MCC FINISHES RUNNER-UP AT HOME INVITE – The Muskegon Catholic Central volleyball team went 3-1 in a home invitational on Saturday, finishing in second place.

The Crusaders defeated Holton, Fruitport Calvary Christian and Orchard View before falling to Kalamazoo Christian.

Amelia Heminger led Muskegon Catholic with 55 assists while Calvin’Nae Simmons added 10 blocks and 11 kills.

Maria Sanocki added 31 digs while Kyra Tyler added 14 kills. Both Emiy Olsen and Payton Helton had 10 aces.
