The West Michigan Whitecaps used a comeback effort on Thursday night to sweep their series with Great Lakes, winning Game 2, 2-1 in ten innings.

West Michigan trailed 1-0 in the ninth inning and were down to their final strike before Reece Hampton singled down the right field line, scoring Luke Sherley and tying the game at 1-1.

In the tenth inning, Sherley hit an infield RBI single to score Colby Bortles, making the score 2-1 in favor of West Michigan.

Great Lakes hit a 2-out double in the home half of the tenth inning before Sherley fielded the final groundout, sealing the Whitecaps victory.

Hampton led the Whitecaps with two hits and an RBI while reliever Billy Lescher picked up the win, tossing two ining and allowing one hit while striking out two.

The Whitecaps will next play Bowling Green in the Midwest League Eastern Division Championship best-of-three game series. The Whitecaps will host Game 1 of the series at 6 p.m. on Saturday evening.
