The West Michigan Whitecaps season will need to win their final two games in order to make the playoffs this season.

After falling to Fort Wayne 10-3 on Saturday, the Whitecaps are one game behind Fort Wayne for the second half wild card.

After falling behind 2-0 in the first inning, John Valente came home to score on an RBI groundout by Jordan Pearce, making the score 2-1 in favor of Fort Wayne.

However, the Whitecaps surrendered four runs in the third inning, one in the fifth, and two in the sixth to fall behind 9-1.

In the home half of the sixth inning, Anthony Pereira came home to score on an RBI groundout by Wenceel Perez, making the score 9-2.

In the seventh inning, Colby Bortles doubled home Pearce to cut the Whitecaps deficit to 10-3.

Bortles, Pearce and Perez all had one hit and one RBI to lead the Whitecaps offense.

The Tin Caps and Whitecaps will continue their series on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
