The Grand Haven volleyball squad opened Division 1 district play with an easy 3-0 win over Grand Rapids Unions on Monday evening.

The Buccaneers, who are now 32-18-2 overall on the season, won by service scores of 25-6, 25-7 and 25-6 to advance to the district semifinals.

Olivia Gross led Grand Haven with six kills while Ashlyn Pahl had five along with two blocks in the match.

The Buccaneers were paced defensively by Baby Hang with six digs while Rachel Hillburger added four. Samantha Boove chipped in with 17 assists.

Grand Haven will face Kenowa Hills on Wednesday in the Division 1 district semifinals at Reeths-Puffer.
