The Whitehall volleyball team went 2-3 on Saturday in tournament action.

In pool play, the Vikings beat Unity Christian but lost to South Christian and Caledonia. Following pool play, Whitehall defeated Caledonia in quarterfinal action before losing to Byron Center in the semifinals.

Allisyn Grams led the Vikings with 28 kills and 23 blocks on Saturday while Jaden Mikkelson had 74 assists and 20 digs. Gianna Megna also had 63 digs for Whitehall.

The Vikings are now 18-7-4 on the season.

FRUITPORT MAKES SEMIFININALS BUT FALLS TO NUMBER NINE HAMILTON

The Fruitport volleyball went 4-1 on Saturday in tournament action at Byron Center.

In pool play, the Trojans defeated Covenant Christian, Byron Center and Grand Rapids Catholic Central. In the quarterfinals Fruitport defeated Covenant Christian again before falling to Hamilton in the semifinals.

Rachel Paulsen led Fruitport with 34 kills while Jordyn Carlyle added 28 kills and Kylie Oberlin added 27. Carlyle also had 188 assists to lead the Trojans. In digs, Trinity Busscher led with 46 while Paulsen had 41.

Fruitport improves to 23-12 overall on the season.

WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN HAS STRONG SHOWING IN TOUGH TOURNAMENT

The Western Michigan Christian volleyball team traveled to the east side of the state on Saturday and came home with a 3-2 record.

In pool play, the Warriors lost to Harbor Beach before responding with victories over Oakland Christian and Charyl Stockwell. In the quarterfinals, the Warriors defeated Brown City before losing to Gabriel Richard in the semifinals.

Anna Sytsema led the Warriors with 35 kills and 11 blocks on the day while Claudia Kingma added 24 kills. Rebecca TerHaar had 10 aces while Alisha Leffring added 79 assists and 10 blocks.

ORCHARD VIEW STRUGGLES IN KENT CITY TOURNAMENT

The Orchard View volleyball team went 1-3 on Saturday in a tournament at Kent City.

In pool play, the Cardinals lost to Kent City, and Tri County while grabbing a victory over Kelloggsville. The Cardinals then lost to Oakridge in the quarterfinals.

Lily Johnson had 26 kills to pace Orchard View while Kaelyn McNarland and Larissa Steward each had 11 kills. Cassidee White added five digs and four aces for the Cardinals who drop to 7-21-2 on the year.

MONA SHORES TAKES ON TOP OPPENENTS IN EAST GRAND RAPIDS TOURNAMENT

The Mona Shoes volleyball team struggled against top competition on Saturday, going 0-3-1 on the day.

The Sailors split with Holland Christian but lost to Lakewood, North Branch and Forest Hills Eastern.

Suriya van der Oord led the Sailors with 45 digs while Emma Lynn added 16 kills. Megan DeLong had 35 assists and 17 digs for Mona Shores.

The Sailors are now 8-19-3 overall on the season.
