The Whitehall football team did all of its damage in the first half, then cruised to a 56-0 victory over Shelby on Friday in a West Michigan Conference contest.

The Vikings put up 28 points in each of the first two quarters to wrap up the scoring for the game.

Whitehall outrushed Shelby 298-2 and led in total offense 298-57.

Quarterback Gavin Shafer had a big night for Whitehall, rushing for two touchdowns and passing for one. Kayleb Venema had three rushing touchdowns, while Kris Dowdell and DJ Wright also found the end zone for the Vikings.

Terrell Harris caught the touchdown pass for Whitehall. Allen Powers led the defense with 7.5 tackles.

Tanner Astrauskas rushed for 32 yards for Shelby while Christian Cooper had 5.5 tackles.

Whitehall improved to 5-2 overall and 4-2 in the conference. The Vikings will host North Muskegon next week.

Shelby dropped to 0-7 and 0-5. The Tigers will host Mason County Central next week.
