The Orchard View boys basketball team continued its hot start, defeating Manistee 50-43 on Friday in a Lakes 8 game.
The Cardinals trailed 15-13 after the first quarter, led 25-23 at halftime and had a 37-35 advantage heading into the final quarter.
Ke’ontae Barnes paced OV with 17 points and five steals while Dietrich Thornton added 13 points.
Strong defense was key for the Cardinals in the fourth, as they were able to pull away for the victory.

MUSKEGON CATHOLIC 47, WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 30 – The Crusaders trailed 13-6 after the first quarter and 22-16 at the half before going on an 18-5 third quarter run to take a 34-27 advantage.
The Crusaders closed the contest with a 13-3 fourth quarter tear.
Jared Dugener had a team-high 22 while adding eight rebounds for MCC while Andre Watson II followed with 12 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Hayden Hubers led WMC with eight points while Tyler Somers added seven.
The Crusaders improved to 1-1 on the season while WMC fell to 1-2 overall.
O-K Black Conference
ZEELAND WEST 59, REETHS PUFFER 54 – The Rockets trailed 17-9 at the end of the first quarter and cut their deficit to 36-30 at halftime. Reeths-Puffer trailed 49-43 heading into the fourth stanza.
Kalil Stimaged had a career-high 19 points for the Rockets, while Kaleb Mitchelson followed with nine points and five assists. Josh Jordan added nine points and came down with 10 rebounds.
The Rockets fell to 2-1 on the season and will travel to Ludington next Tuesday.

KENT CITY 63, WHITE CLOUD 22– A 25-point outburst from Eli Carlson helped lead the Eagles to a victory Friday night.
The Eagles jumped out to a 25-6 advantage after the first quarter with 12 points scored by Max Hudson.
Kent City increased its advantage to 45-14 at halftime and finished the scoring during the second half with an 18-8 tear.
Hudson chipped in with 16 points for the Eagles, who improved to 1-2 on the season and 1-1 in league play.
HOLTON 55, HESPERIA 39- The Red Devils hit five 3-point shots in the first quarter which led to an early 17-3 lead after the first quarter. Holton extended its advantage to 32-9 at halftime.
The Panthers came out strong in the second half with a 30-23 advantage but failed to complete a comeback.
Nate Slowik led the Red Devils with 26 points while Aiden Poling added 10.
The Panthers were led by Logan Balkema with 15 points and eight rebounds.
Holton improved to 1-1 on the season while Hesperia fell to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

FRUITPORT CALVARY 49, HERITAGE CHRISTIAN 29 – Jacob McFarrin and Luke Anhalt paced the Eagles with 15 points each while Ben Zelenka added nine.
The game was tied 9-9 after the first quarter and the Eagles trailed 24-16 at halftime before going on a 23-4 third quarter run to take a 39-28 advantage heading into the fourth frame.

PENTWATER 49, BRETHREN 47 – Khole Hofmann’s game-winning layup with 5.6 seconds left in regulation propelled the Falcons to victory.
The Falcons trailed 20-14 at halftime.
Khole Hofmann led Pentwater with 17 points while Austin Hofmann added 10 points and 13 rebounds. Max Stoneman chipped in with nine points and 14 rebounds.
